After crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s we are thrilled to announce that ReadID is available on iPhone! Already we’ve been providing beta versions to our customers and partners, but now everyone can try it for themselves: the ReadID demo app is available in the App Store!

Last June, Apple announced at their developers conference WWDC that in iOS 13 it would be possible to read ePassports and chipped identity cards. And now that moment has come: iOS 13 is publicly available. This is a game changer for identity document verification in general and for ReadID specifically, since ReadID now works on all modern smart phones.

This full availability is a major boost for our NFC-first approach to identity document verification. Using NFC for identity document verification has significant benefits over the alternative technology of using OCR/optical verification (with a photo of an identity document) as well as over video identification (holding the identity document in front of a webcam/camera during a video call). ReadID benefits include better user experience, since the success rate is higher, as well as higher security, no OCR mistakes, and straight-through processing. And now, everybody can leverage these benefits, whether you are an Android or an iPhone user.

We encourage you to try ReadID on your iPhone and let us know what you think! We hope you are as enthusiastic as we are. This is the link to the App Store:

For ReadID to work, please make sure you have an iPhone 7 or up and have updated your iPhone to iOS 13. There are a few minor issues with iOS 13.0. These have already been fixed in the beta for iOS 13.1. The public release of iOS 13.1 will come out on September 30th, 2019. If you would like to get a license for ReadID and use ReadID in your organisation, feel free to contact us via

This is the moment to act and make identity verification truly smart and simple with ReadID.
